Law Firm of Kissinger & Fellman in Expansion Mode

Group adds D.C. lobbying arm, Denver attorney

DENVER (Sept. 3, 2013) ? Denver-based law firm Kissinger & Fellman P.C. has embarked upon a strategic expansion that includes the addition of an office in the Washington, D.C. area that will provide lobbying and legal services for technology companies and local governments on a state and federal level.

The expansion also includes the addition of a seventh attorney in the Denver office, who will provide general assistance in all areas of the firm?s civil, commercial and public sector law practices.

Kissinger & Fellman has established expertise with its work in public sector communications and utilities law for the last three decades, and it was a natural progression for the firm to extend into services that will help broadband, IT and technology companies, conduct business in Maryland and at the federal level. Kissinger & Fellman has hired attorney Lori Sherwood to serve as legal counsel and lobbyist for clients, and she will operate out of the firm?s new Silver Spring, Md., office.

Most recently, Sherwood was the broadband program director for the $100 million dollar Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) project to build a middle mile broadband network connecting schools and public entities throughout Maryland. Known as the Inter County Broadband Network initiative, the project was successfully completed Aug. 31, 2013. In this capacity, she co-wrote the original BTOP federal grant application on behalf of the broader ?One Maryland Broadband Network? that was awarded to the State of Maryland in September 2010. She received her law degree from the University of Baltimore cum laude; and her Bachelor of Arts degree from The American University. She has been a member of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors board of directors since 2010.

Kissinger & Fellman?s newest Denver attorney is Surbhi Garg, who recently graduated from the University of Colorado Law School and who has worked in the District 20th Judicial District Attorney?s Office, and in U.S. Magistrate Judge Craig Shaffer?s office. She has also worked in the Cook County (Ill.) Circuit Court, and she was a law clerk for Reilly Pozner in Denver.

?We are excited about the many ways we will be able to help our current and future clients with the addition of Lori Sherwood and Surbhi Garg to Kissinger & Fellman,? said K&F Principal Ken Fellman. ?This is the right time to add these capabilities and services to address marketplace demands.?
